Every child looks forward to Christmas, with all of the Christmas stories and hope that is built around the season.  Wrapping toys, stocking stuffers, cooking the favorite dishes for Christmas dinner, singing carols, hearing the story of Jesus's birth, leaving carrots for Santa's reindeer, are all part of the Christmas spirit.

For many families, Christmas is also an added burden of stress, trying to manage the finances to provide Christmas gifts for the kids.

Beginning November 22- December 20 families can make an appointment for shopping at Santa's Shop.  Our special programs are located on the first floor of Sharing House, accessed from the bottom parking lot.

"Christmas Blessings" is a beloved program that Sharing House has provided for many years.  Low-income families with children up to 18 years old, who are living in the home, are invited to make an appointment to go shopping in the "Santa Shop".  Parents/Guardians come and pick out the gifts that they hope their child or youth may enjoy-- gifts that are donated by local community neighbors and churches.  They can then wrap the gifts, pick out a book for each child, and stuff stockings-- all to take home to put out under the family tree.

We love receiving donations of new toys and gift cards for sharing at Christmas!  We can also leverage your monetary donations to buy new toys in bulk.  We always need special volunteers to organize and stock the "Santa Shop", and help families with their shopping experience.  Interested?  Please contact Megan Parker, our Special Projects coordinator!

Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.
