Join Sharing House and the Rotary Club of Pisgah Forest for Pack the Pantry 2026, a county-wide food drive to help stock the shelves of Sharing House’s Neighbors Market. On Saturday, May 16, residents across Transylvania County are invited to make a meaningful impact by donating food and funds to support families facing hunger.

Collection sites will be active at key community locations—including the courthouse gazebo, Ingles Grocery, Dollar Tree, and Sav-Mor. Volunteers will provide shoppers with a “most needed” list to ensure every donation supports the greatest needs of our neighbors.

With a goal of collecting 5,000 pounds of food and raising $5,000, this event strengthens food access, dignity, and resilience throughout our community. Together, we’re building a healthier, more hopeful future—one meal at a time.

Why Pack the Pantry Matters

In 2025, Sharing House remained a cornerstone of nourishment and stability for Transylvania County—providing more than 131,500 meals through its neighbor-choice pantry model. A total of 351,702 pounds of food were distributed with expanded access through in-person shopping, mobile delivery, and a new online ordering option.

Strategic investments, including new infrastructure and a mobile food delivery van funded by the Golden LEAF Foundation, significantly strengthened Sharing House’s outreach—particularly after Hurricane Helene, when 40,000 pounds of food were distributed in just one month to meet urgent needs.

Last year’s Pack the Pantry drive in November brought in 7,247 pounds of food and $10,007, surpassing goals and expanding the pantry’s ability to respond to hunger in our community.

Sharing House encourages individuals, families, congregations, civic groups, and local businesses to participate in Pack the Pantry 2026—whether by donating food, volunteering time, or spreading the word. Every action helps ensure that all neighbors have access to fresh, nourishing food.
