Empowerment ProgramS Manager

What You’ll Do

No one likes to ask for help. In this job, you’ll be working with individuals seeking assistance from a nonjudgmental partner to advocate for and navigate available resources. At Sharing House, we refer to this position as the Empowerment Programs Manager. You’ll be responsible for mentoring/accountability check-ins, group facilitation, and program coordination.

Every day, you’ll be part of a team who serves housed individuals/families who are struggling to pay their bills, unhoused residents, the elderly and housebound, by providing funds for utilities and rent, access to nutritious food, clothing, showers, and empowerment programs.

Empowering others requires time, patience, and respect for the individual’s autonomy. Using these techniques and group facilitation, you’ll empower our Neighbors (our service users) to become their own advocates who take an active part in identifying their needs and increasing their capacity for self-help.

You’ll be responsible for managing, coordinating, and facilitating small group programs, such as those designed to provide education in budgeting, systemic poverty, and advocacy. You’ll also research, create, implement and manage additional programs to align with Sharing House’s mission.

To do this well, you’ll use strong fiscal management skills including knowledge of managing program budgets, projecting future funding, and ensuring timely expense reconciliation and projections.

It’s essential for you to ensure confidentiality in all aspects of services provided. You need to work with integrity and respect the dignity and value of all individuals. You also must maintain professional boundaries to demonstrate trust, objectivity and impartiality; avoid perceived conflicts of interest; uphold professional standards; and provide services in an ethical and legal manner.

To thrive in this role, you will establish and maintain a broad network of community support services, including health, employment, education, counseling, self-help, community service.

What You Bring

Alignment with Sharing House’s mission and values is essential to be successful in this role.

This subject matter expertise is required:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (BSW) or related degree; comparable lived experience in lieu of education will be considered.

· Understanding of social determinants of health, with a focus on poverty and socio-economic factors.

· Experience with managing programs and services that assess and mitigate risk, including handling unpredictable situations and applying crisis intervention methods.

· General knowledge of community resources and organizations, with ability to learn about and connect with local organizations.

· Proficient in interviewing skills and group facilitation.

We’ll train you in Trauma Informed Resilient Training; CPR and First Aid; and the Grant Management Process.

Salary Range:

$55,000-60,000/annual

Location:

On-site in Brevard, NC.
